ONLINE MODULE SCHEDULE

 

 

 

Module One: begins October 10, 2006-- What Does Collaboration Look Like?

  • In the first module of new online Library Academy with the overall theme of "Collaborating with Teachers: Librarian Strategies for Student Success," we will review the stages of collaboration, the leadership roles and personalities of school librarians, what collaboration looks like, and the factors affecting collaboration.

 

Module Two: begins November 7, 2006--Moving Toward Collaboration

  • The second module of our new online Library Academy with the overall theme of "Collaborating with Teachers: Librarian Strategies for Student Success" will examine the differences between how teacher and librarians view collaboration, our professional views of those differences, and how to identify opportunities within our own schools.

 

Module Three: begins December 5, 2006--Successful Collaboration: The Game Plan

  • In the third module of our new online Library Academy with the overall theme of "Collaborating With Teachers: Librarian Strategies for Student Success," we will create a "game plan" to initiate collaboration and develop strategies and techniques to collaborate with teachers.

 

Module Four: begins January 9, 2007--Developing Collaborative Units

  • In the fourth module of our new online Library Academy with the overall theme of "Collaborating With Teachers: Librarian Strategies for Student Success," we will begin developing an in-depth collaboration lesson plan with the goal of providing others enrolled within the course the opportunity to access and utilize our lesson plan ideas.

 

Module Five: begins February 13, 2007--Curriculum Mapping and Collaboration

  • In the fifth module of our new online Library Academy with the overall theme of "Collaborating With Teachers: Librarian Strategies for Student Success," librarians will learn how to develop library collections that both promote collaboration while correlating with the classroom curriculum.

 

Module Six: begins March 6, 2007--Overcoming Roadblocks to Collaboration

  • In the sixth module of our new online Library Academy with the overall theme of "Collaborating With Teachers: Librarian Strategies for Student Success," we will examine the roadblocks to collaboration and develop strategies to reduce or eliminate those roadblocks.

 

Module Seven: begins April 3, 2007--Strategies of Collaboration--Administrative Support

  • In the seventh module of our new online Library Academy with the overall theme of "Collaborating With Teachers: Librarian Strategies for Student Success," we will focus on the strategies to educate administrators in what librarians can do for student achievement, provide them with ways to encourage teachers to collaborate with us, and to provide administrative support for the library and its programs.

 

Module Eight: begins May 8, 2007--Promoting Collaboration

  • In the eighth module of our new online Library Academy with the overall theme of "Collaborating With Teachers: Librarian Strategies for Student Success," we will examine the process of building and promoting collaboration within our schools and our communities to help provide strong programs to our students, teachers, parents, and community members.

 

Module Nine: begins Summer 2007--Gathering Evidence: Student Achievement

  • In the ninth module of our new online Library Academy with the overall theme of "Collaborating With Teachers: Librarian Strategies for Student Success," we will learn how to gather evidence to allow us to speak the data-driven language of district, state, and federal administrators.

 

Module Ten: begins Summer 2007--Building Collaboration Around Standardized Tests

*In the tenth module of our new online Library Academy with the overall theme of "Collaborating With Teachers: Librarian Strategies for Student Success," we will focus on building collaboration around standardized tests through effective team building, administrative support, and creative uses of lesson plans that do not circumvent the library program.
